Bully
A wall reef running 40 to 90 feet, named for the Bull Sharks that have made it a regular stop. Sightings aren't guaranteed but when a Bull Shark moves through this wall, it's a moment worth every dive that didn't produce one.
About Bully
The name came from the locals who knew the site long before it had a formal listing anywhere — Bull Sharks have been turning up on this wall consistently enough that the name stuck. It's a honest label for a site that delivers on it more often than most.
Bull Sharks are a different species of encounter than the Nurse Sharks and Bonnetheads that divers meet on the shallower reefs. They're large, thick-bodied, and they move with a particular kind of purpose that makes every other animal in the water feel their arrival. Their reputation precedes them — they're considered one of the more unpredictable shark species in the ocean — but the reality of sharing a wall with one at depth is something most divers describe as one of the most striking things they've seen underwater. Beautiful is the right word. Heavy, muscular, entirely unbothered by the divers watching from the wall.
Not every dive on Bully produces a Bull Shark. The wall itself is worth the trip regardless — solid coral structure dropping from 40 to 90 feet, the usual population of reef fish, and the open-water exposure that comes with a wall dive at this depth. But divers who've been here when the bully showed up tend to book the next morning charter without being asked.
